ECDE teachers who had been on contract in Kisii have finally been hired on permanent and pensionable terms.
The teachers had been serving on contracts for more than eleven years.
At least 714 of them qualified during a fresh vetting for permanent hiring.
Some applicants had their documents rejected because they were fake during vetting.
County Governor Simba Arati said action shall be taken on those who presented fake documents.
“We have already forwarded their names to the Ethics and Ant-Corruption Commission (EACC) for action,” Arati told the teachers at the Gusii Stadium Wednesday.
One imposter presented an ECDE college certificate yet he did not complete her o-level studies.
Other applicants, Arati stated, may have colluded with some of his officers to get letters.
The County boss asked the Public Service Board chairman ( PSB) chairman, Elijah Obebo to take action.
Under the new scheme, the teachers would earn between Sh. 26,000 to Sh. 39,000 based on their qualifications.
Teachers, noted the have been working on contract since 2013 and earned between Sh. 12,000 and 14,000,
The Governor said the teachers, employed on permanent and pensionable terms are eligible for transfers and urged the Department of Education to be considerate.
Some three teachers had Masters in ECDE.
Arati challenged Certificate and Diploma holders to also advance their studies.
