Nancy Macharia says sh 1 billion available for teachers Dec. promotions

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will advertise massive promotion vacancies for teachers across all grades.

Making the announcement during supervision of KCSE 2024 exams, TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia said the Commission has been allocated sh. 1 billion for promotion of teachers in December.

Last year TSC was allocated sh. 1 billion for promotion of teachers in all cadres.

The Commission then advertised a total of 36,505 promotion vacancies for primary and post primary school teachers.

Of the 36,505 vacancies it advertised in September last year, 17,914 were for primary school teachers.

The interviews for primary school teachers were done from 4th to 15th December 2023.

Secondary school teachers and Teacher Training College (TTC) tutors had their interviews running from 3rd to 16th January 2024.

However many teachers criticized the promotion interviews conducted last year claiming they were marred with corruption and lacked fairness.

The application for promotion will be done online after which a list of shortlisted candidates will be released.

Interview dates will be issued for candidates who will also be required to appear with the following documents during the exercise.

1) Original National ID Card

2) Original Academic and Professional Certificates

3) Letter of appointment to the current Grade

4) Letter of appointment to the current post (where applicable)

5) Analysed individual subject results in KCPE/KCSE Examinations for the last three years, certified by TSC County Directors/Sub County Directors.

6) Performance Appraisal Reports for 2020, 2021, and 2022

7) Any other relevant testimonials supporting your performance
