Probe launched into victory of Musingu Boys’ High School

A probe has been launched into the victory of the Kakamega County Secondary Schools football champions Musingu High School (Scorpions) by the Quality Assurance and Standards Officers (QASO) after their victory against rivals Kakamega High School (Green Commandos) at Bukhungu Stadium during the semi-finals, over the weekend.

Kakamega County Secondary Schools Sports Association chairperson Lazarus Makokha revealed that the Green Commandos launched an appeal complaining of having been beaten unfairly.

“We are investigating Musingu as there are complaints from Kakamega that they fielded a Kisumu Day High School student. Hopefully, once done with our investigations we will let you know of the verdict,” said Makokha.

Musingu won a tense penalty shoot-out to sail through the finals against little-known Shanderema Secondary whom they also beat to be crowned champions.

Makokha assured that the two will represent Kakamega County in the Western Region School games competition unless otherwise.

“Let us cease spreading rumours that might end up spoiling the names of our great schools. We have a rich history in both sports and academics and that should be taken into consideration, unless one is found guilty of malpractice and charged, the rest will remain to be rumours,” a stern Makokha added and finalized that the winners and first runners up advance to the next level unless things change.

Former national champions Green Commandos had a poor run as they again lost the third place spot to another little-known school Lugusi Secondary from Kabras by two goals to nil and had to bitterly settle for a surprise fourth-place finish.

The now infamous Kakamega will have to wait for QASO to deliver their verdict and hope that it goes in their favour as they wish to redeem themselves again, but this time around through the judgment of a round table panel.
