Pathways and subjects to be offered in senior secondary schools

PATHWAYS AND SUBJECTS IN SENIOR SCHOOLS

The three main pathways are (i) Arts and Sports Science (ii) Social Sciences, and (iii) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Life skills will be adapted to suit the specific issues in each learning area.

  • Most universities in Kenya are not well prepared to align these pathway learning areas with academic programmes. By 2029 some of the universities shall be irrelevant in this process of transitioning learners from senior schools to university education. There's little technical input from universities in structuring programms for the new system of education as 8-4-4 phases out in few years' time. The banking of CBC programms with the required facilities under the new system of education should be made a necessary tool to back up the ongoing reforms in education. Universities should set up Curriculum alignment framework.
